Synopsis
"Wake Up, Girls!" is the story of growth and friendship of seven girls living in Sendai, Miyagi who form the idol group "Wake Up, Girls! (WUG)" and work together to become top idols. Operating under a small production company in Sendai known as "Green Leaves Entertainment," WUG overcame countless obstacles to beat national idol group "I-1 club" at the Idol Festival and win the event. They had suddenly become top idols... but with an idol recession going on, things weren't so easy. The days of steady and honest idol work continued for the girls. Meanwhile, Sendai-based middle school trio Hayashi Ayumi, Morishima Otome, and Atsugi Itsuka have developed an increasing desire to become idols...

We Are Wake Up, Girls!
After defeating I-1 club at the 2015 Idol Festival, WUG thought they had finally become top idols... but things aren`t so simple. The group continues to struggle to make a name for themselves, and to make matters worse, the idol economy is in a recession.

This Is Our Home
At Tange`s instructions, the members of WUG begin living together in a dorm. Furthermore, when they hear about her plan to hold a national tour, the girls are shocked but also excited. In order to increase the group`s popularity, Tange aggressively begins assigning individual work to the members of WUG.

I Am My Ponytail
The girls attempt to do their very best at the various individual projects Tange has found for them, but none of them seem to be going very well. When Tange hears about this, she gives the girls some confusing advice.

As the other members of WUG work hard on their own projects, Mayu finally receives a job offer for a drama. Not only that, but she`ll be co-starring with Iwasaki Shiho, which is sure to garner attention. When Ayumi and her friends come to Tokyo after seeing an ad for extras, they`re finally able to meet their idols Mayu and Shiho...

Dreaming the Same Dream
As filming for the drama approaches its peak, the gap between Mayu and Shiho closes little by little. Green Leaves plans a Sendai bus tour as a fan club interaction event. Meanwhile, Shiraki announces his plans for the new I-1 club at their practice space, causing a disturbance among the members.

It`s the day of the WUG Fan Club bus tour. Since Minami`s stuck at work, the remaining six members do their best to entertain their fans. While on the tour, Ayumi accidentally ends up inside a WUG animal costume and is taken to the hot springs by a confused Mayu...

WUG begins preparing for their first national tour! With all their solo projects going well, the girls feel satisfied and excited. Meanwhile, a wave of disquiet passes through the group as Shiraki announces to I-1 club that a new unit will be formed. And the three middle school girls who admire WUG finally knock on Green Leaves` door...

Determined to include a new song on the album, Tange instructs Matsuda to ask Hayasaka to write them a new song, but they still haven`t heard back from him. When the members of WUG learn the tour`s ticket sales aren`t going well, they swear to work even harder. However, reality is even harsher than they imagined...

As the members of WUG get more individual work, they begin to have trouble finding the time to get together and rehearse for the tour. With the added difficulty of composing lyrics, the responsibilities of leadership leave Yoshino worried. Mayu grows closer to Shiho when she explains the situation with I-1 and her concerns, but their conversation makes her late to rehearsal...

Still unable to write lyrics for Hayasaka`s song, the members of WUG are repeatedly told to try again. The deadline for their album release is coming up, but they`re still one step short. Miyu and Kaya head to a certain group`s concert where they strengthen their friendship with the other group. Will the lyrics they`re inspired to write as a result be good enough...?

WUG`s national tour has begun.However, Vdol Makina X, whose influence has been rapidly expanding thanks to foreign investment, buys out the stadium WUG was planning to use for its final concert, leaving them with no venue to perform at. Meanwhile, Shiraki gives Shiho his decision as part of shoring up I-1, which has her reeling...

It`s the final day of the Wake Up, Girls! tour. Vdol Makina X is performing in multiple stadiums, the I-1 club is competing for its center position, and local idols across the country are holding simultaneous concerts under the banner of "Wake Up, Idols!" In order to help their opening act, Run, Girls, Run! relax, the members of WUG take action...!
