Synopsis

Naruto: Shippuuden is the continuation of the original animated TV series Naruto. The story revolves around an older and slightly more matured Uzumaki Naruto and his quest to save his friend Uchiha Sasuke from the grips of the snake-like Shinobi, Orochimaru. After 2 and a half years Naruto finally returns to his village of Konoha, and sets about putting his ambitions to work, though it will not be easy, as he has amassed a few (more dangerous) enemies, in the likes of the shinobi organization; Akatsuki.

Homecoming

An older and stronger Naruto returns from his two and a half years of training with Jiraiya. When he gets back he finds that many things have changed since he left. From Konohamaru becoming a Gennin and being under the supervision of Ebisu to Tsunade's, the Fifth Hokage, being added to the great stone faces. Now the tasks of starting things where they were left has begun. And what new danger does Jiraiya know about?

The Akatsuki Makes Its Move

As Naruto gets back into the swing of things and meets back up with what is left of Team 7, Kakashi and Sakura, Jiraiya has something important to tell them. It seems a shinobi group known as Akatsuki is on the move. The things they are after are the tailed beasts like the one inside of Naruto, the Kyubi. Is Naruto prepared to defend himself from this group of Shinobi?

The Results of Training

The bell test begins again while Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Shizune watch, but this time Kakashi is taking things seriously. So serious that he is using his Sharingan. Can Naruto and Sakura get the bells before the deadline? Meanwhile Gaara searches for the Akatsuki member that has invaded the village.

The Jinchuriki of the Sand

The bell test continues for Naruto and Sakura. Meanwhile Gaara discovers that the Akatsuki member, Deidara, has infiltrated the village. Now the battle begins between Gaara and Deidara. With Deidara after Shukaku which is sealed in Gaara, can the older and more powerful Gaara defeat this powerful foe?

Gaara and Deidara continue their fight with Gaara gaining the upper hand. Deidara then begins to attack the village and Gaara, the Kazekage, must protect it. Can Gaara defeat Deidara or is he playing right into his hands.

Sasori's Real Face

With his puppet destroyed, Sasori reveals himself to Chiyo and Sakura, looking no older than when he left his village twenty years ago. As a further bit of nostalgia, he produces a summoning scroll and calls forth the Third Kazekage, whom Sasori has made into a puppet. Using its weapons, which are even more dangerous than Hiruko's, Sasori is able to catch Sakura in a poison gas cloud. Meanwhile, Kankuro, Temari's team, and Ebizo make their way to the Akatsuki hideout.

Chiyo's Secret Skills

Sakura manages to escape the poison gas cloud by using an explosive scroll on herself. Chiyo calls forth the "Mother" and "Father" puppets that Sasori created to fight him and the Third. They manage to hold down the Third for awhile until Sasori releases the Third's secret technique: Iron Sand. Meanwhile, Team Guy are having trouble fighting the clones and showing exhaustion from the battle. Naruto and Kakashi manage to avoid Deidara's clay bombs and keep up with him.

Father and Mother

The Iron Sand stops both puppets from moving. Chiyo's right arm (which she had turned into a puppet) gets clogged and broken as well. Chiyo thinks back to the past and remembers how Sasori created and controled his first puppets, Father and Mother. Sakura urges Chiyo to use her again as her puppet. With Chiyo's help, Sakura avoids the columns formed by the Iron Sand to attack her.

The Third Kazekage

Chiyo and Sakura must try and defeat Sasori's strongest puppet, the Third Kazekage.

Three Minutes Between Life and Death

Sakura has managed to destroy Sasori's strongest puppet, but he still has a few tricks up sleeve. And although Sakura's managed to avoid a fatal blow from the poison, she and Chiyo must defeat him in three minutes before the antidote wears off and they are vulnerable to Sasori's attacks. Can they defeat him in time?

Puppet Fight: 10 vs. 100!

Chiyo uses her abilities as a master puppeteer to allow her to control ten puppets at once against Sasori. However, Sasori has gone a step ahead, and gained the ability to control one hundred puppets at once! Can Chiyo defeat the man who took down an entire country?

Impossible Dream

It's the final stand against Sasori, and Chiyo reveals the flaw in Sasori's "immortality". As Sasori breathes his last breaths, he rewards the two kunoichi for his defeat by providing them some valuable information. In ten days, they will have the opportunity to meet with one of his spies who can provide them with information on Orochimaru, and Sasuke as well.

Beasts: Alive Again!

As Kakashi and Naruto chase after Deidara, and Sakura and Chiyo rest from their fight with Sasori, Gai and his team continue to fight their doppelgangers. Things aren't looking good for the four as the doppelgangers remain at the same strength while Gai's team grows weaker. Can they finish things up, or will it be the end of the line for them?

Kakashi Enlightened!

Kakashi unleashes his new Mangekyo Sharingan against Deidara, turning the tide of the battle in their favor, but when Naruto begins to act strangely, Kakashi sees him as the bigger threat.

Aesthetics of an Instant

Kakashi must act quickly to calm Naruto down before he releases too much of Kyubi's power. Meanwhile, Deidara is cornered by Gai's team, and when he realizes that he can't defeat them, he decides that the only way he'll die is he takes everyone else with him!

The Legacy

Gaara's body has finally been recovered, and Chiyo determines that there is only one way to save him. It's up to her and the entire village to prove to Gaara that he is loved, and Naruto shows Gaara that he does have a friend.

Return of the Kazekage

Now that Gaara's been revived, the Hidden Sand Village slowly begins to return to normal. It's time for the ninja of Konoha to take their leave, and Naruto shows Gaara how friends say goodbye. Meanwhile, a mysterious ninja tries to join Akatsuki.

The New Target

Everyone has returned to the Hidden Leaf Village. Kakashi is hospitalized for a week due to the strain caused by his Mangekyo Sharingan.

After attacking Naruto, Sai predicts that they will meet again soon, then vanishes. Tsunade meets with the village elders, Homura and Koharu…

The day for capturing the spy is finally here. Just as planned, Yamato takes on Sasori`s likeness and waits until the Akatsuki spy appears. The spy turns out to be none other than Kabuto.

Kabuto carries out a surprise attack on Team Kakashi to take back Sai, but a change has come over Sai since Sakura pointed out his contradictions.

The Picture Book's Story

Naruto, while nursing his injuries caused by the release of the Nine-Tailed Fox, searches frantically for Sasuke. Seeing this, Sai recalls the feelings he once had for his older brother and finally manages to complete his unfinished picture.

Reunion

Team Kakashi are stunned to learn that Sai`s true mission is to kill Sasuke. Naruto wants to believe that the smile Sai showed them was real, but there is a possibility that it was all an act.

The Power of Uchiha

Team Kakashi finally have their wish to be reunited with Sasuke granted. Although it has been three long years, Sasuke`s feelings have not changed. His ultimate goal is to get revenge against his older brother, Itachi.

Title

Sasuke`s desire for revenge remains firm, no matter how hard Naruto tries to talk him out of it. Yamato tries to take Sasuke by force, but interference by Orochimaru brings things to a quick close.

Nightmare

Naruto has a strange nightmare several days after their failure to bring Sasuke home. Even after he awakens wisps of the dream keep haunting him.

Naruto begins to train with Kakashi. Kakashi finds it exhausting working with Naruto, who can’t understand anything explained to him.

Learning that his chakra is of the "wind" type that is outstanding for fighting, Naruto puts more effort into his training.

Team Kakashi is ordered to resolve the frequent vandalizing of graves at the Fire Temple. When it becomes clear that the vandals aren’t after the possessions buried with the dead, Yamato suspects that they want the corpses of the ninja buried in the four hidden tombs near Fire Temple.

At the Fire Temple, Chiriku explains to Team Kakashi that the hidden tombs hold the guards of the Land of Fire’s feudal lord. At one time Chiriku and Asuma were members of that organization.

A New Enemy

Word comes that the last of the hidden graves has been broken into. Naruto and the others go after the coffin, but it turns out to be a trap.

Impermanence

Team Kakashi is split up by the enemy`s Earth Summoning Jutsu. They are forced to fight the attacking assassins, but the enemy has the advantage since they know the lay of the land.

Contact

Sora confronts Furido, the mysterious figure who has broken into the hidden graves. Impressed by Sora’s unusual strength, he admonishes him, “You should reevaluate how you use that power Heaven has blessed you with,” and disappears, leaving him with a cryptic message that he is an old friend of his father.

Teammate

Yamato believes that the assailants were not grave robbers but were after Sora. He decides to appoint Sora to Team Kakashi as a temporary stand-in for the injured Sai.

The Two Kings

By chance, Naruto and Sora get Asuma to coach them. Under the guidance of Asuma’s iron fist, they immerse themselves in training with Wind Chakra.

The Jet-Black Signal Fire

Tsunade catches Danzo in a secret meeting with a ninja from the Hidden Rain Village. But the ninja turns out to be a spy for the Hidden Leaf.

Lockdown of Darkness

Under cover of a giant power outage, Furido begins his assault on the Hidden Leaf. The village immediately goes on alert, but Furido’s men put up a barrier, and everyone in the village is trapped inside.

Revived Souls

In order to stop the impending disaster, Asuma rushes toward the electric generator system. There he sees the Guardian Shinobi Twelve who have come to life once more through Revival Jutsu after their graves were robbed.

Sora is speechless when he discovers that Furido not only intends to assassinate the Hokage but plans to totally annihilate Hidden Leaf Village.

A Night of Rain

Staying behind at the hideout, Rinji and Gozu become aware of a shinobi following their tracks. At the same time, Kakashi and his team notice that the enemy is using a bat for surveillance.

At the Leaf Village Naruto is busy training with Gamakichi and Gamatatsu. But when he learns that Kakashi and the others are out on a mission to locate Orochimaru’s hideout, Naruto rushes to ask Tsunade if he can join the mission.

Hopes Entrusted to the Future

As the Suna ninja search for their Kazekage, Gaara appears and orders for the continuation of the Chuunin Exams. He later communicates with Fugi via sand clone, making the latter realise that Houichi had failed in his assassination and had been defeated. As Gaara talks about his changes as a person and his hopes for the village, Fugi slowly realises that he had misjudged Gaara. Feeling ashamed of his actions in attempting to usurp Gaara, he commits seppuku. Meanwhile, Matsuri challenges Shira to a battle in order to see whether the will of the Kazekage has passed on to them, as his students. Shira then wins the battle, which prompts Matsuri to offer her team`s scroll; however, Team Shira declines due to them having the same scroll. Due to domestic complications within the village, Gaara announces the cancellation of the third stage of the exams. In order to assess the participants` performance in the exams, detailed reports of each team were sent to their villages, leaving the decisions of promotion to their respective Kage. After the exams, Team Ajisai is promoted to chuunin by Konan and is immediately assigned an S-rank mission, which results in Ajisai`s death. Her corpse is then delivered to a tower, where it is picked up by Konan. Meanwhile, Fuu and her team are ambushed by Hidan and Kakuzu. In Konoha, Tsunade promotes Kiba, Shino, Hinata, Sakura, Chouji, and Ino to chuunin, while declining the promotion of Team Komugi. Despite being unable to attain the two scrolls needed, Tenten and Lee are promoted to chuunin while Neji is given a double-promotion to jounin for his actions in saving the Kazekage. Elsewhere, Naruto and Jiraiya start to return back to Konoha after Naruto`s training.

On the Brink of Death

Gaara transports Sakura and Naruto to the Fourth Hokage in order to have Yin-Kurama sealed into Naruto to save him. While being transported, Sakura attempts to heal Naruto. As the Nine-tails` chakra cloak disappears, Sakura discovers that her medical ninjutsu is unable to reverse the effects of the Yang-Kurama`s extraction and resorts to slicing open Naruto`s chest and manually pumping his heart. Meanwhile, Karin, distraught, goes after Sasuke to heal him. As Karin heads towards him, Tobi uses a miniature version of Hashirama`s Sage Art Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands to stop her. Karin evades the attacks and uses chains to counter it. Tobi impales her with a wooden staff, which shoots out several branches. Karin, however, bites her arm and heals herself. Suigetsu then comes to Karin`s aid with his Water Gun: Two Guns technique. Juugo quickly follows and attempts to grab Tobi, who dodges but is unable to evade Orochimaru, who temporarily paralyses him with a cursed seal. Leaving Sasuke, Madara seals the Ten-Tails into himself and heads towards Obito, pausing for a moment to spit out the Benihisago and Kohaku no Jouhei from his mouth, which land on Lee and Guy, who are retreating with Tenten. When Karin senses ominous chakra where Sasuke is located, she rushes onwards. As Kakashi and Minato prepare to separate Obito and Black Zetsu, Yin-Kurama tells Minato to use his sensory mode. Gaara and Sakura then bring an unconscious Naruto and explain the situation to Minato. Minato tells Kakashi to deal with Obito, with Gaara volunteering to help him, while Minato prepares to seal Yin-Kurama into Naruto. However, Yin-Kurama is instead accidentally sealed into Black Zetsu, who intervenes in the process. Madara arrives at their location, berating Black Zetsu for the delay in retrieving the Rinnegan.

The Two Mangekyo

Now that its master is nearby, Black Zetsu declares that nobody can stop it from handing Madara the left Rinnegan and the Nine-Tails` Yin half, detaching itself from Obito`s body. As Kakashi and Gaara prepare to attack in order to give Naruto the means to survive the tailed beast`s extraction, Black Zetsu finds itself unable to leave Obito`s body, due to him not allowing it to. Obito questions Madara about who he himself is to the older Uchiha, with the jinchuuriki explaining how Obito – as a follower of Madara`s ideals – is Madara, he who wishes to cancel the world created by the Sage of the Six Paths and to create a new one through the Eye of the Moon Plan`s completion. Seemingly giving in to Madara`s words, Obito starts walking towards his ancestor, with Minato trying to attack Madara as Kakashi and Gaara try to stop Obito, only for Madara to effortlessly stop them. However, Obito doesn`t take Madara`s hand, but instead pierces him in the gut, claiming that his current self is the same as the one who wanted to become Hokage – recalling Naruto`s words in the process. Obito goes on to extract fragments of the One-Tail`s and the Eight-Tails` chakra, ordering Kakashi to teleport Naruto and Sakura to the other dimension. After Madara stops Obito from going there himself, Kakashi runs to Obito`s side, with his old comrade commenting on how Kakashi always looks down upon him, remembering the old times in Konohagakure.

The Formation of Team Minato

Obito overhears some shinobi complaining about completing missions with Kakashi and asks them about it. They tell him that Kakashi ignores his team-mates to complete missions no matter what, which conflicts with what Obito remembers Kakashi saying. They advise Obito to be wary of being assigned missions with Kakashi. Leaving the Academy, Obito shares his concerns with Rin. He then comes across Kakashi and tries to strike up a conversation with him, only for Kakashi to leave, telling him not to worry. Obito trains in the rain to catch up to Kakashi with Rin encouraging him in the background. Hiruzen asks Minato to teach Kakashi some humanity. Later, Rin berates Obito for being late to his own graduation ceremony and takes him inside to re-enact the graduation, giving him his certificate and telling him they were assigned to the same team. As Team Minato gathers for the first time, Minato applies the bell test. The team passes, and Minato informs them they`ll start with simple odd-job missions. Obito completes the missions with help from the elderly people he often aids, leading Minato to appreciate Obito`s kindness towards others. Due to Team Minato completing all available D-rank missions, they`re assigned a C-rank mission to escort a group of foreign shinobi carrying a missive. During the mission, Minato notices they`re being surrounded by enemies and orders Rin and Kakashi to go on ahead while he and Obito fall back to take care of the enemies. Obito and Minato engage in battle, with Minato having to save Obito from an attack. Another group of pursuers catch up to Rin and Kakashi`s group. Kakashi tells Rin to go on ahead while he stalls the enemies. One of theirs escortees, however, is hit, and falls down from a bridge into a river. Reaching near their destination, one of the escortees thanks Rin and Kakashi, but the other two reveal themselves as traitors and attack their fellow shinobi. Confident that Minato won`t be able to reach them in time, the traitors prepare to attack Rin and Kakashi.

After being attacked by the two traitorous escortees, Minato and Obito arrive to back up Rin and Kakashi, but one of the two traitors escapes. The last escortee asks Minato to ensure that the scroll is real, as two of them were given scrolls. It is discovered that the scroll was a fake and the other escortee that fell had the other scroll. Obito immediately leaves to save the escortee and the others reluctantly follow. The escortee is found by enemy shinobi and is attacked; however, Obito and Kakashi arrive in time to save him. In the midst of the struggle, one of the pursuers grabs the scroll and they retreat. Kakashi leaves, claiming that completing the mission is his nindou. He goes after the group and attacks them. Obito sends a signal to Minato and tells him of Kakashi`s actions, who arrives just in time to save Kakashi and defeats the entire group. Team Minato returns the scroll and completes the mission. However, it is discovered that their team was sent as a decoy and that both scrolls were fake. Another group was charged with delivering the scroll to ensure it wouldn`t be stolen by enemy ninja. In the present, Madara launches two orbs at Obito and Kakashi to get the Rinnengan and the Yin-half of Kurama. Obito — with Kakashi`s help — transports himself to the other dimension. After convincing Sakura of his changed nature, Obito begins transferring the tailed beasts chakra to Naruto. In the real world, Guy arrives in the nick of time, saving Kakashi from Madara`s attack.

The Blue Beast vs. Six Paths Madara

As Orochimaru and his team reach Sasuke, they realise that the unknown chakra signature is that of Kabuto. Since Kabuto has assimilated other people into himself, his chakra signature has become unknown, explaining why Karin could not identify the person near to Sasuke. Kabuto explains that he has decided to save Sasuke, after coming to realise who he was, thanks to the Izanami. Elsewhere, Guy releases the Gate of Wonder, which fails to damage Madara. Knowing that the Seventh Gate failed, Guy realises he must use the Gate of Death, which he knows will kill him. He remembers his time with his father, where he failed to graduate and decided to run 500 laps in order to enter the Academy as an alternate student. However, Guy is unable to finish running 500 laps and ends up passing out while the Third Hokage watches him from the window of the Academy. As Guy apologises to his father only to be scolded for not having faith, Guy becomes frustrated with his father being mocked and attacks two older ninja, only to end up being brutalised. He`s saved from further harm by Kakashi taking out the older ninja. After being saved by Kakashi, Guy watches him leaving with his father.

Papa

A young Guy questions his father Might Duy on being optimistic despite criticisms from other people in the village. Duy reiterated that becoming strong is not about winning or defeating enemies, but protecting something precious. Guy continues his training and frequently sees Kakashi, which inspires him to challenge. However, Duy disagrees Guy`s proposition on challenging Kakashi and suggests to impose a self-rule. Guy follows and exerts his training just not to challenge Kakashi. After hardworking and perseverance, Guy finally graduates from the Academy and start accepting missions. Guy also notices his father taking lousy, low rank missions. Before departing on a mission, Guy overhears a conversation between his father and a jounin which seems to be dissatisfied with Duy`s performance. He also realises that his father`s seemingly under-performance is due to his training on the Eight Gates every night, which Duy passes and trains Guy on using the forbidden jutsu. During a mission, Guy`s team encounters the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. Guy felt nervous from the swordsmen, realising the danger it poses until Duy appears and protects his son while using the Eight Gates. Shifting to present time, Guy finally activates the eighth gate. Encloaked in red vapor, Guy advances to Madara to unleash the Evening Elephant.

The Eight Inner Gates Formation

Guy begins his assault on Madara, using the Evening Elephant to attack, however the pain of using the Eight Gates Released Formation causes him to prematurely end the attack. Madara returns to the sky, excited over the opportunity to face a user of all Eight Gates. Kicking the air in order to match Madara`s flight, Guy prepares to use the Evening Elephant again. Minato tells the others they have to help Guy, and gives Lee one of his kunai. As Guy begins his second use of the Evening Elephant, Madara shields his attack with his Truth-Seeking Ball, countering with one of his own. Lee throws the kunai between Guy and the attack, so that Minato can use the Flying Thunder God Technique to send the orbs away. Gaara then lifts Kakashi close to Madara so that he can use Kamui to create an opening in Madara`s defence. Guy lands the final "step" of the Evening Elephant directly into Madara, pushing him through the back of his shield. Despite this devastating attack, Madara stands once again, stating his excitement hasn`t reached this level since fighting Hashirama. Elsewhere, Naruto wakes up and wonders if he has died. However a floating man tells him that he is not. Naruto questions the old man as to who he is, and is shocked to hear that the man is the Hagoromo Ootsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths. Hagoromo tells Naruto of the cycle of reincarnation of the Sage`s sons, Indra and Asura, and tells Naruto of the latter`s lack of ability, especially in comparison to that of the elder brother. When Naruto recognises these traits in himself, Hagoromo reveals to him that he is the reincarnation of his youngest son.

The Sage of the Six Paths

Hagoromo reveals to Naruto that he is the reincarnation of his younger son: Asura. He asks Naruto if he can guess who Indra`s reincarnation is, and Naruto correctly concludes it is Sasuke. At the same time, Hagoromo has the same conversation with Sasuke, revealing his status as Indra`s reincarnation, and having him realise Naruto is Asura`s. Hagoromo goes on to explain that Hashirama and Madara are the previous reincarnations, and that by taking Hashirama`s power, Madara recreated Hagoromo`s chakra, awakening the Rinnegan, despite leaving Indra`s descendants instructions against it. Hagoromo explains that his mother Kaguya used her powerful doujutsu to rule over humanity, and that Madara is on his way to acquiring that same power. Hagoromo asks Naruto to stop Madara, who accepts his request. The chakra of the tailed beasts converge, and Hagoromo notes the prophecy he heard long ago has come true. As entrusting only Asura had created so much conflict, Hagoromo asks Sasuke to cooperate as well, and entrusts both Naruto and Sasuke with his powers. Having survived and being impressed by Guy`s Evening Elephant, Madara asks Guy to keep on fighting him, deeming him the strongest taijutsu user he has ever faced. Guy prepares to use his last technique while Naruto and Sasuke awaken. As Guy prepares the Night Guy, Kakashi recalls his father`s accurate prediction of Guy`s potential when they were children. Guy`s powerful kick lands on Madara, through the Shinju, almost killing him. Guy`s body begins to disintegrate and an elated Madara, regenerating from the attack, attempts to finish him with a Truth-Seeking Ball only for Naruto to kick it away, much to his surprise. Naruto touches Guy, stopping his life force from fading. Madara notices a change in Naruto, wondering what Obito did. Naruto declares he feels he can change the world with his new powers.

The One Who Will Inherit

Konohamaru cleans Naruto`s apartment. Soon after that, Naruto returns home from his long training, with Team Ebisu and Sakura meeting up with him. Konohamaru shows Naruto his improved Sexy Technique, but the boy reveals that he has already created an advanced version of the technique, only to be hit by Sakura for being a pervert. Naruto and Konohamaru then come back to Naruto`s apartment, with the boy putting his old jacket into one of the drawers for safe keeping. After that, Naruto is shown to begin teaching Konohamaru Rasengan, who`s imagining that he`s being taught an advanced version of the Sexy Technique. Naruto then impresses Konohamaru by showing him the Rasengan first-hand and gives him a water balloon, telling him to practice rotation. Soon after that, Gaara is kidnapped by the Akatsuki and Naruto leaves to help him. In the meantime, Konohamaru, not comprehending the rotation aspect of the technique, asks Kiba, Chouji and Hinata to help him out, but to no avail. Deciding to heat-up the sexiness of his Sexy Technique, Team Ebisu goes to Ebisu for some help, thinking that it would help Konohamaru learn the Rasengan more quickly. Taking a few magazines from his sensei, the team takes their leave. Later, using the Transformation Technique to transform into a girl spinning a hula-hoop, Konohamaru, with enough practice, pops the water balloon using chakra and shows it to Naruto, who gives him a rubber ball and tells him to practice power. Having no idea how to do it, Konohamaru, alongside Moegi and Udon, go ask Ebisu for help again. Meeting him in the park, alongside Iruka, all three transform into sexy girls and asks which one, in his opinion, is the most attractive. Ebisu then gives some advice to Konohamaru, which inspires him to use his Sexy Technique to transform into a girl, hiding her breasts and then revealing them, sending Ebisu flying with a bloody nose, in a comedic fashion. Soon after that, Konohamaru begins training again, determined to learn the technique.

Tsunade is frustrated that Orochimaru has escaped her grasp again. Shizune informs her that Konohamaru has been learning the Rasengan from Naruto, to which she makes a bet whether he will master it or not. Meanwhile, Konohamaru uses his Sexy Technique to pop the rubber ball, given to him by Naruto. The boy then decides to visit Naruto and show his accomplishment, learning that he has been practicing Wind Release. Konohamaru then shows him that now he can burst the rubber ball, with Yamato and Kakashi flustered by how he does it — using Sexy Technique. Proud of Konohamaru, Naruto creates a shadow clone and tells him to do this next, only for the boy to reply that he can`t. Konohamaru then issues a challenge to Naruto, saying that he will learn the Shadow Clone Technique before Naruto can complete his current step in Wind Release training. After a few failed attempts at the technique, Konohamaru collapses, with Moegi and Udon going to Sakura for some food pills, which she has been giving to Naruto for training. After a few days, Naruto completes his training and Konohamaru loses the challenge. Later, Kotetsu and Izumo inform Konohamaru and Naruto about the death of Asuma Sarutobi and, soon after that, the jounin`s funeral is held. While Naruto fought Kakuzu, Konohamaru managed to learn the Shadow Clone Technique. Konohamaru then begins the final step of the training, with both him and Naruto forming the Rasengan with Tsunade and Shizune observing them. After leaving for Mount Myouboku to learn Senjutsu, Naruto asks Konohamaru to take care of his treasure - his old orange jacket. During Pain`s Assault, Konohamaru manages to use the Rasengan, and with it, defeat Naraka Path. When Naruto returns, Konohamaru reveals that, despite the village`s explosion, he managed to save Naruto`s old jacket, by storing it in the village`s valuables storage in the evacuation shelter.

To Rise Up

Madara is puzzled by Naruto stopping Guy`s chakra from fading. Madara defends himself from Naruto`s punch with his remaining Truth-Seeking Ball, noticing an increase in Naruto`s power. With Son Gokuu`s chakra, Naruto creates a lava Rasenshuriken and attacks Madara and the tree with it, dodging Madara`s Limbo: Border Jail. Naruto`s attack severs the tree, which appears to tell Madara to absorb it, which Madara does. Naruto takes Guy to Lee and Gaara. In Kamui`s dimension, Sakura thanks Obito for saving Naruto, and Obito has a request for her. Sasuke frees Tobirama from Madara`s black rods, Tobirama notices a change in him, and Sasuke asks if Tobirama can teleport him. Madara recovers from having absorbed the tree, telling Naruto he can`t be defeated. Naruto picks up one of his father`s kunai, powering up with his own Truth-Seeking Balls, that he would not be alone, as Sasuke appears beside him with a newly awakened Rinnegan. Madara notes he himself possesses both their powers, and prepares to fight. Madara attacks, but Naruto deflects the attack and Sasuke evades it completely. Madara realises they have discovered the working of his Limbo when Naruto and Sasuke ready their jutsu. Madara escapes their simultaneous attack by sacrificing his Limbo, and flies away to steal Kakashi`s Sharingan. Sasuke manages to cut Madara in half, but he manages to warp into Kamui`s dimension. There he attacks Sakura, who at Obito`s request, is about to destroy the Rinnegan so Black Zetsu can`t get it for Madara.
