Synopsis

The first episode, Aoi Hitomi no Casval, tells the story of Casval Rem Deikun and Artesia Som Deikun (Char and Sayla, before Char became known as the Red Comet) before the One-Year War in UC.0068. The story for the second episode, Kanashimi no Artesia, moves three years ahead to U.C. 0071. The story will follow the tearful separation of the siblings Casval and Artesia (before they became known as Char and Sayla). It will also feature more of the development of the mobile suits, particularly on the Zeon side. The third episode, Akatsuki no Houki, follows the youth who would become known as Char Aznable and his future comrade Garma Zabi after they join the Zeons' military academy.

Universal Century 0068, Side 3 – The Autonomous Republic of Munzo. Zeon Zum Deikun, preaching the reformation of humanity through advancement into outer space, has been attempting to declare Munzo`s complete independence from the Earth Federation government. Suddenly, he collapses and dies in the middle of a speech to the Diet. Upon Deikun’s death, his aide Jimba Ral begins spreading conspiracy theories about the Zabi family. But despite his efforts, the Zabi family, led by Degwin Sodo Zabi, intensifies its secret maneuvering to seize control of Side 3. As we witness for the first time the untold chaotic history of the Universal Century, Casval and Artesia, Deikun`s orphaned children, must face destinies just as tumultuous as the era itself.

Universal Century 0071. Three years have passed since the escape from Side 3`s Autonomous Republic of Munzo. Casval and Artesia, the orphaned children of Zeon Zum Deikun, have fled to Earth along with Jimba Ral and taken refuge in the household of Teabolo Mass. They now live quiet lives under the names Edouard and Sayla. However, they are once again being targeted by the evil schemes of the pursuing Zabi family... Meanwhile, Side 3 has been renamed the Autonomous Republic of Zeon. The Zabi family have seized power, and as they consolidate their system of control, they embark on the development of a new weapon called the mobile worker in order to resist the Earth Federation Forces.

Universal Century 0074. Since leaving Texas Colony, Édouard Mass has camouflaged his identity and enrolled in the Autonomous Republic of Zeon`s Space Defense Military Academy under the name of Char Aznable. He develops a friendship with his classmate Garma, a scion of the Zabi family. Gradually the two become admired by the other students. Then, in Universal Century 0077, the young at last rise up in arms and begin the fight for independence against the Earth Federation`s security forces. This rebellion, however, also marks the beginning of Char’s spectacular scenario of revenge… Now, the gears of history are turning!

After the Dawn Rebellion, Char travels to Earth and meets a girl with mysterious powers named Lalah Sune. Meanwhile, Amuro`s father Tem Ray is working on the RX-78 development project. Learning of the defection of Doctor Minovsky, a key figure in Zeon mobile suit development, he heads for the moon. History`s first battle between mobile suits unfolds in the twilight zone of the lunar surface. Then comes Universal Century 0079. Side 3, the space city furthest from the Earth, launches a war of independence against the Earth Federation government under the name of the Principality of Zeon. An era of violent upheaval begins, in which half of the total human population will be killed...

Universal Century 0079. Humanity has turned even space itself into a battlefield, and the Principality of Zeon forces advance after wiping out half the world`s population by carrying out the Operation British (colony drop). In response, the Earth Federation Forces mobilize their overwhelming fighting strength to regain the advantage. The complex intrigues of the Zabi family... Sayla Mass, as she contends with the whims of fate... Hamon and Ramba Ral, who is now a pilot in the Zeon forces... Amuro and Fraw, leading peaceful lives at Side 7... a dark shadow falls across them all. And the Zeon ace Char Aznable, driven by revenge, goes into action as the "Battle of Loum" finally begins.

On January 23, U.C. 0079, a decisive battle between Zeon and the Earth Federation begins at Side 5, or Loum. Though the Zeon forces are overwhelmingly outnumbered, their secret plan suddenly turns the tide of battle as they deploy a special assault regiment made up of humanoid mobile suit weapons, winning them a huge victory. Char Aznable of the Zeon forces produces particularly impressive results in his red mobile suit “Zaku II”, earning a promotion to Lieutenant Commander and the nickname "Red Comet." After the Battle of Loum, the Earth Federation Forces initiate Operation V to fight back against Zeon. At Side 7, young Amuro Ray is indirectly involved as he takes action to uncover the secret of the new weapon "Gundam." Meanwhile, as high officials of the Earth Federation and Zeon forces meet in Antarctica for early peace negotiations, a certain speech is broadcast from Luna II throughout the world...
