Synopsis

While being called a "genius violinist," high school sophomore Kanade Kohinata feels herself entering a plateau period and difficult to improve her musical achievements. She reunited with his childhood friend Ritsu Kisaragi at his concert and met his younger brother Kyoya. Ritsu, in a forceful manner, asked both Kanade and Kyoya to transfer to his school, Seiso Academy, to prepare for the upcoming national musical competition. Kanade's relationships with Kisaragi brothers and other handsome young men shall create more than just a few ripples in her heart.

Episode 1

One day, prodigy violinist Kohinata Kanade in the second year of high school receives an anonymous letter after a performance. About the same time she is invited by her childhood friend Kisaragi Ritsu, and heads to Yokohama along with Ritsu’s younger brother Kisaragi Kyoya.

Episode 2

Kanade and Kyoya move to Seiso Academy and enter the orchestra club. They are shocked by club-leader Ritsu’s announcement that they are candidates who would represent Seiso Academy in the national contest. But other members are disgruntled, especially the first-year Cello player Mizushima Haruto, because they could not agree to an ensemble made of people whose abilities they know nothing of.

Haru’s childhood friend Nanami Sousuke decides to go back to the chamber music club. Kanade and others visit Amane High School with him, where they meet Myoga Leiji, the leader of the chamber music club. It seems as if he knows about Kanade, but Kanade has no recollection of him.

The National Student Music Contest draws near. Club members of the wind-instrument club of Sendai’s Shiseikan High School arrive at Linden Hall. Kanade meets the stern Hozumi, the cheerful and energetic Misushima, and the club-leader Yagisawa.

The National Student Music Contest has begun. And the school to challenge in the third stage is no other than Shiseikan High School. Kanade struggles being second violin in a battle against the members of Shiseikan High School, as they had just become fast friends at Linden Hall.

Kanade was overwhelmed by Shiseikan High School`s performance, in which they gave their all. She begins the third stage with unsettled feelings, which shows in the way Kanade plays. It`s a crisis for Seiso academy`s ensemble, but Ritsu`s heroic decision to push through guides each member to rise higher. However, Ritsu has a secret he had been keeping from Kanade and Kyoya...

Seiso Academy won the third stage under the lead of Ritsu`s performance. But because he strained himself, Ritsu`s wrist gets injured; he can no longer continue with the competition. He picks Kyoya to take his place as first violin in the semifinal, but Kyoya becomes anxious and angrily storms out of Linden Hall. Kanade is anxious as well, and desperately tries to understand what Tohgane meant by "flowering."

Kanade and Kyoya overcome their anxieties, and endeavor in practice for the semifinal. The ensemble of four forge ahead to the semifinal under the strict guidance of Ritsu. On the other hand, Jinnan High School stands on the stage full force, having to overcome their previous defeat.

Seiso Academy defeated Jinnan High School at the semifinal. At the next semifinal stage, circumstances haunting Myoga impel things to go an unexpected direction. To have revenge for her younger brother Alan who lost his will to play violin after his competition against Myoga, Enjoji Saeka of the famous St. Cecil High School of Kyushu risks playing a particular composition...

Seiso Academy is competing against Amano High School on the final stage. Ritsu picks Kanade to play first-violin. But Kanade battles her anxiety since she has never played first before, feeling that she is lacking something.

The much anticipated final draws near. Unexpected events happen to Kanade, however, who seeks to discover her own sounds. Vaguely she begins to recollect memories of why Leiji is so obsessed with her. An incident happened 7 years ago, which changed the course of their fateful relationship.

Kanada and Leiji make it to the auditorium unscathed, barely in time for the final performances. Amane and Nanami perform with sounds they had never before played. Furthermore, Leiji`s sounds, imbued with love and hate, envelop the auditorium with darkness, swallowing up the audience.
