Synopsis

Bamboo-Lee, Dah-Lee, and Slo-Lee are three bears with a goal: to save the world before more species become extinct. But can the bears stand up to the spineless villains behind Ratco Corporation? With Ai-Ai the pink dragon on their side, they may be able to rescue the environment before it's too late.

Episode 1

We are introduced to our heroes when Bamboo-Lee meets Dah-Lin and Slo-Lee in their attempt to escape from Ratco trappers, whom we come to know as Rats 1, 2 and 3. Our heroes are rescued by a pink dragon called Ai-Ai who takes them to her master`s cave up in the mountains. Her master, No-How, is a wise old sage, determined to save the world`s environment and animals from destruction by the evil Ratco Company. He offers the Bamboo Bears an exciting mission to travel the world and save endangered animal species.

The Pyrenean Brown Bear is almost extinct. Our heroes encounter some of the last remaining Bears whose habitat is threatened by the construction of a new Super Highway. Using Ai-Ai`s ancient fire-breathing skills, our heroes succeed in blocking Ratco`s bid for the highway contract.

Blue Parrots are very much in fashion in Rat City. Trading them is controlled by Ratco. Our heroes rescue a young Parrot and return him to the rain forest, at the same time putting paid to the illegal trafficking of these protected birds.

Fishermen and Sea Otters have competed for fish off the coast of North America for centuries. However, their feeding grounds will be destroyed when Ratco decides to flush the oil out of its tankers at sea before filling up at dock. Our heroes manage to unite the Fishermen and endangered Otters in a determined effort to save their environment.

Ratco`s continual destruction of forest land to provide larger sugar cane fields is destroying the habitat of the Solenodon. Despite Slo-Lee`s delight in discovering `honey-flavored bamboo` Our heroes have to find a new habitat for Rosita and the other Solenodons and stop the Rats in their tracks.

The habitat of the gentle Manatee is threatened by an impending powerboat rally to be sponsored by Ratco. Slo-Lee`s stories of the legend of the Bermuda Triangle help the Bears to conjure up a plan to prevent the rally from taking place and scare the Rats off for good!

Ratco is building a big ranch. By building the ranch, the water of the neighboring lake is drying up. The lake is the watering hole of the African Wild Ass. Moreover, the African Wild Asses are being captured by Ratco to be used as transportation for tourists. Our heroes, Ai-Ai and the Wild Ass, are able to stop the plans of Ratco.

The Anteater colonies in the South American jungle face extinction because of a huge dam project proposed by Ratco. Despite the cynicism of the Anteater Chief, our heroes save the day and sabotage the construction of the dam.

Rataleone needs to dispose of a surplus of poisonous arsenic. The cheapest method is for his three Henchmen to discharge the arsenic from a mill under the guise of harmless paper waste. The resident Beavers fall ill from the poisoned waters of the lake, but our heroes have an ingenious plan to terminate Ratco`s thoughtless dumping.

Rataleone`s scheme to build a dinosaur theme park involves the kidnapping of poor Ignatius, a Giant Iguana, to feature as a prize exhibit. Our heroes rescue Ignatius and, with Ai-Ai`s help, save the Galapagos Islands from devastation by fire.

The only thing standing between Rataleone`s plans for constructing a super dam in the South American rain forest is the Brown Howler Opera Company. When their resident Diva is kidnapped by Ratco, they turn to our heroes for help.

Roscoe and his family of Texas Prairie Dogs are deluged with waste oil seeping into their burrows from a Ratco refinery plant. Rataleone is aware of the problem but has no consideration for the surrounding environment. Our heroes are almost swallowed up by the horrible oil but manage to give the Rats a taste of their own medicine and save the Prairie Dogs.

Our heroes encounter a Female Whale and her pup who are being ruthlessly pursued by Ratco Whalers using explosive harpoons. Our heroes turn the tables on the villains, who end up swimming for their own lives.

Our heroes accompany Ting a Ling (No-How`s sister) to Guatemala in search of her husband, famous explorer Sir Quentin Quest, who has been kidnapped by Ratco. The Bad Rats have also bribed the local Indians into logging the mahogany trees in the jungle. The deforestation is threatening the habitat of the native Quetzal. Sir Quentin and his wife uncover the ancient legend of Quetzcoatl, and help our heroes turn the Indians against the Rats and stop the destruction.

Our heroes are dispatched to Katmandu in Nepal by No-How to check the diminishing Snow Leopard population. Ratco have got there before them and are busy trapping the animals for their valuable coats. After a breathtaking mountain trek and chase, our heroes save a Snow Leopard and her cub.

A very sick Oryx is kidnapped in the dead of night from the city Zoo. Why? No-How and our heroes solve the mystery that leads them to uncover Ratco`s evil plans to eliminate the entire Oryx species and open up the Néfoud Desert to oil drilling.

Rataleone is about to venture into fruit farming in the Rocky Mountains. He orders his Rats to spray a toxic pesticide to get rid of all the "nasty" bugs, threatening not only the insect life in the area, but all other animals in the food chain, including endangered species, such as the Peregrine Falcon. Our heroes try to intervene, but are captured by the Rats. Ai-Ai is alerted by a Falcon and comes to their rescue.

Our heroes are on holiday in the Philippines when a family of Tarsiers comes to them for help. Their habitat is being destroyed by a Ratco project for a leisure complex on the Island. What is more, the Rats are trying to capture the Tarsiers for their miniature zoo! How could the Bamboo Bears refuse?

Rataleone is masterminding the illegal poaching of Lynx for their valuable fur in a protected National Park in Southern Spain. Disguised as Spanish Flamenco dancers, our heroes investigate and successfully put a stop to the operation.

Drilling in the Arctic wasteland, undertaken, naturally, by Ratco is threatening to destroy the breeding grounds of the Penguin. Helped by a young Penguin, Pee-Wee, and his friends, our heroes succeed in closing down this illegal operation.

The Condors` scavenging grounds, the Highlands of the Andes, have been taken over by a Drug Cartel backed by Rataleone. With the help of the local farmer Rats and a traitor within the Ratco organization, our heroes help smash the evil cartel and the Condors learn to live in harmony with the local farmers.

In the deepest caverns of the ocean, the Squid is undisputed King. Ratco`s illegal dumping of nuclear waste motivates his angry visit to the surface where, aided by our heroes, he succeeds in halting the illegal activities of Admiral Rataleone`s fleet.

The water meadows, favored as living space by the Frog, are menaced by the Bad Rats, who use the land as a scrap metal dump. Our heroes "persuade" the Rats to abandon the project, and the Frogs are happily reinstalled.

Rataleone`s most ambitious project to date is the invention of a Time Machine that he keeps in the wastes of the Northern Arctic. The local residents, the Arctic Foxes, are subjected to Ratco`s destruction of their environment. Our heroes manage to turn both tables and time on Rataleone and save the Arctic Foxes.

The world`s last remaining Javan Tigers are in grave danger! Ratco is building a hotel complex in their jungle and intends to blackmail the local farmers into killing the Tigers for financial gain. However, the arrival of the Bamboo Bears and the power of the ancient gods over the local people do not figure in Rataleone`s evil plan!

Our heroes are in the Arctic to check why fewer Polar Bears are being sighted. They discover that Ratco is dumping refrigerators that he failed to sell to the Eskimo population. Their CFCs are depleting the Ozone above the ice caps, causing the Polar Bears to seek protection from the harmful UV rays under the ice. Our heroes report the dump to the authorities, thereby making it safe once more for the Polar Bears to roam.

Tasmanian Wolves are thought to be extinct until a local farmer declares he has spotted unmistakable tracks. Of course, Rataleone wants to cash in on the reward for trapping the unfortunate animal and sends his Bad Rats to hunt it down. The Bamboo Bears set off in pursuit of the hunters and the hunted. They begin to wonder whether Tasmanian Wolves are extinct after all...

Rataleone has decided to venture into the mahogany trade. He dispatches the Rats to Malaysia with a deforestation machine capable of clearing the rain forest within a month! However, the machine has a mind of its own, destroying everything in its path. Will the Bamboo Bears manage to intervene in time to save the forest and the local Tapirs from extinction?

No-How discovers that a rare species of monkey called the Macaque is endangered by Ratco`s plans to build a leisure complex on the slopes of Mount Fuji. Our heroes are sent on a mission to Japan where they meet a Macaque, Jimmy, and his friends. Together, they manage to thwart Rataleone`s intentions for construction.

Rataleone`s latest money-spinner is a project to open a copper mine on Grey Wolf territory in Northern America. Meanwhile, a vicious rogue wolf is running amok, terrorizing the townspeople. Taking advantage of the locals` superstitious fear of the wolves, the Rats have set a cunning trap to discredit the amiable beasts and drive them out of their habitat. Our heroes uncover the plot and foil Rataleone once again.

Ratco is destroying the coral reef in Papua New Guinea to make way for a giant underwater complex. Their actions will wipe out the flora, fish and even deprive the local natives of food. Two Sawfishes ask the Bamboo Bears for help, but first, our heroes have to confront the wary native Indians and then the Bad Rats before saving the Sawfish and their environment from extinction.

Illegal dumping of nuclear waste is brought to No-How`s attention when a group of Desmans is threatened by contamination. Our heroes are sent to investigate and uncover a sinister and bizarre Ratco plot to miniaturize animals for an experiment on the moon!

The ivory trade may be illegal, but why should that stop Ratco poaching endangered African Elephants for their precious tusks? The Rats have even managed to dupe the local villagers, so only the Bamboo Bears can now save the Elephants from annihilation!

Ratco has set up a sheep station in the Australian Outback, but things are not running smoothly. Rat 1 is fired and replaced by an ambitious female rat. He will not take no for an answer, and he plots to get rid of her by burning down the station, threatening the local wildlife, including the Burrowing Bettongs. The Bamboo Bears come to their rescue when they discover the world`s biggest fire extinguisher!

Endangered Nile Crocodiles live in a protected Game Reserve, but Crocodile skins mean big business to Rataleone, and no one will stand in his way! Corrupt Game Keepers are turning a blind eye to the illegal traffic, and the Crocodiles are doomed unless the Bamboo Bears take action to help them!

Ratco has a contract to construct a holiday camp for Politicians in the river estuary where the Storks live. Our heroes discover that nothing in the world of politics is straightforward and have to rely on their own methods to save the feeding grounds of the Storks.

The odds are against the dwindling population of "Silverback" Gorillas, as a group of them is not only being persecuted by Ratco trappers and insecticide cultivators, but also by the hungry villagers. They prepare to fight for their territory in the face of certain death, but the Bamboo Bears find a solution that will benefit all, except Rataleone, of course!

Rataleone has acquired a genuine haunted English Castle, and considers the Bats who live there to be an expendable nuisance. Ai-Ai and our heroes save the Bat colony and give the Rats a serious scare.

Rataleone wants to live forever! A Gypsy tells him that the sacred bezoar stone holds the secret. According to legend, the stone can only be found in the stomachs of the very rare Peruvian Vicunas. Meanwhile, Ai-Ai is depressed! No-How concludes that she needs a boyfriend and dispatches our heroes to Peru in search of the only surviving male dragon in the world. The Bamboo Bears soon learn of the Vicunas` peril, send the Bad Rats packing, discover the real secret of the bezoar stone and, indeed, find a suitor for their friend Ai-Ai!

Rataleone is building a new superhighway across Siberia and straight through the Gobai National Park, home of the Przewalski horse. Thanks to Slo-Lee`s striking resemblance to Kublai Khan, the Bamboo Bears manage to persuade the herdsmen to rescue the horses and stop construction.

Mercury poisoning from Ratco gold mines in Brazil has been polluting the river habitat of the Capybaras. Sent on a mercy mission by No-How, our heroes succeed in closing down the mine and saving the Capybaras` environment.

Thomas and Toba are Turtles who have no known enemies. All sea creatures are their friends, even the evil-tempered Shark, Sam. Rataleone`s Fish Farm project, however, poses a serious threat to their lives. Bamboo-Lee has to become a temporary undercover agent in order to save them.

The Uakari Monkeys live very high in the rain forest treetops and are rarely seen. Rataleone`s plans to destroy forest land in order to extend his cattle ranches mean trouble for Winston and other Uakaris. Fortunately, our heroes are at hand to put a damper on Rataleone`s barbecue and ensure the safety of Winston`s forest.

Rataleone can make a fortune from poaching Urang Utans from the wild and then selling them to cosmetics companies for experimentation. No-How sends the Bamboo Bears on a mercy mission to put a stop to this dreadful trade before the Urang Utans disappear in the name of greed and vanity!

Rataleone`s snobbery leads him to invest in the building of an Alpine ski resort, which will destroy the burrows of the Woodchuck. Aided by an old friend of Ai-Ai`s, a Mountain Troll, our heroes are able to scotch Rataleone`s plans at the last moment.

The powder made from precious White Rhino horn is purported to have magical medicinal properties. Rataleone has no scruples and orders his Bad Rats to trap as many Rhinos as they can. The remaining Rhinos and the Bamboo Bears join forces to disrupt the powder production line - permanently!

Our heroes discover that snakes are not slimy and dangerous when they rescue a Viper from the clutches of a Witch, and inadvertently make an alteration to Ratco`s plans to cover Europe with motorways.

Ratco Factory fishing for Herring in Norwegian waters is depriving both the local Seal population and fishermen of their major food source. The Locals are very superstitious folk, but the Bamboo Bears need their help to stop the Ratco trawlers and save the Seals once and for all!

Ratco Rats are building a rail depot at Rock Springs in the Australian outback. The only thing in their way is a eucalyptus forest and it`s resident Koalas. They are planning to sell the Koalas to a local Tourist Park when the Bamboo Bears rescue the Koalas and find them a new home downstream. Rataleone is not amused - especially when he has to inform his Rats that the train is due to pass at Spring`s Rock and not Rock Springs!

Slo-Lee has taken up Martial Arts. He persuades his friends to go with him to Malaysia in search of a Mentor. They stumble across Ratco spraying crops with insecticide and eliminating the local Swiftlets` food source in the process. This will also mean the disappearance of bird`s nest soup as a local delicacy if the Bamboo Bears do not do something and fast!

The Rabbits are living peacefully on the slopes of a volcano on the outskirts of Mexico City. That is until the ever-ambitious Rataleone decides to construct a gigantic football stadium and complex for his "Dream Team" right on their territory. Rataleone is oblivious to the fact that he is disrupting the balance of nature. The Volcano does not like being disturbed - the Bamboo Bears must do something before it blows its top!

In the final episode of the series, Rataleone`s true identity is revealed. Our heroes help the White Dolphins to fulfill their destiny, Ai-Ai is stunned by a tranquilizing gun, and No-How narrowly escapes an untimely end at the hands of a lethal hit man sent by& yes, you guessed right.
